Rebecca Harris is a Senior Attorney with the Crumbie Law Group, LLC in Hartford Connecticut. She has more than ten years of experience practicing in appellate advocacy and complex civil litigation, including breach of contract actions, employment law cases, personal injury defense, medical malpractice defense, product liability defense, premises liability defense, and cases involving the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) and the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA). Attorney Harris also maintains a significant practice in representation of police officers and municipalities in civil rights actions brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Attorney Harris earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a second Bachelor’s Degree Actuarial Science/Mathematics from the University of Connecticut in 2000. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2004. She is admitted to the bars of the State of Connecticut, U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Attorney Harris is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association and currently serve as Secretary and Treasurer of the Appellate Advocacy Section. She is also a member of the Board of Editors of the Connecticut Bar Journal. |

Attorney Dan M. Smolnik holds a Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his practice focuses on public and private company transactions, inbound and outbound transactions, private equity and partnership structure, hedge funds, tax efficiency, and international tax matters. Dan serves as Vice Chair of the Tax Sections of the Connecticut Bar Association, as Chairman of the Federal Business Tax Subcommittee, and he has chaired or vice-chaired numerous boards of directors and provided business and legal leadership to several tax-exempt organizations. Dan recently was appointed to the Economic Development Commission of the Town of Hamden and in 2017, was appointed to serve as Connecticut’s representative to the IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Panel where he advises the IRS on issues affecting IRS processes, policies, and forms. He frequently publishes articles on tax law and lectures before professional and academic organizations on tax law, business law, and business strategy and his econometric analysis of Connecticut’s municipal property tax laws will appear in the Spring 2018 edition of The Tax Lawyer. |

Attorney Andrew R. Crumbie is the founder and owner of Crumbie Law Group, LLC. Prior to starting the firm, Andrew worked in state and federal law enforcement for 20 years. Beginning his law enforcement career with the Connecticut State Police, Andrew served as Detective, Sergeant, and Chief of Staff to the Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Scientifics Services. For several years, Andrew was assigned to the Connecticut Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as a Task Force agent where he worked closely with the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. As detective, Andrew conducted background investigations for licensure of executive employees for Connecticut’s gaming industry. Here, Andrew assisted in developing risk mitigation policies, regulatory structures, and conducted criminal investigations into fraud, forgery, bribery, counterfeiting, racketeering, and related white collar crimes in the gaming industry. In his work with the FBI and the Office of the United States Attorney, Andrew participated in numerous Grand Jury investigations into national criminal syndicates. As Chief of Staff to the State Police Commissioner, he assisted in daily management of an 1800 member department of sworn police officers and civilian staff. In the role of Deputy Commissioner for the State Police Division of Scientific Services, Andrew managed the Forensic Science and Toxicology Laboratory as well as organized and developed the State’s first Computer Crime and Electronic Evidence Lab. Here, Andrew managed the processing and handling of physical evidence collected from crime scenes throughout Connecticut. In this role, Andrew had the distinction of serving with world-renowned forensic scientist, Dr. Henry Lee and traveled throughout Asia with Dr. Lee conducting training for various police departments there in investigative techniques, evidence preservation, and crime scene reconstruction. After the events of September 11, 2001, as State Police Sergeant, Andrew assisted in the development of best practices and anti-terror policies for the DPS, Department of Homeland Security for implementation at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut. Andrew earned his J.D. the Massachusetts School of Law, where he was awarded the Massachusetts Black Judges Conference Book Award for academic achievement. He also received a Masters Degree in Business Management from Cambridge College. Attorney Romiesha Briscoe, admitted to the Bar in New York and Connecticut, earned an undergraduate and Master's Degree in Social Work and worked in that field for several years prior to becoming a lawyer. During law school, Ms. Briscoe gained experience through several externships, including work in the Office of the Connecticut Attorney General and the Connecticut Public Defender's Office. Attorney Briscoe is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, and the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association and will focus her practice in litigation. Attorney Briscoe is a native of Jamaica.
