Attorney Rebecca A. Hartley practices in the firm’s Litigation and Trial Practice area and has more than fourteen years of experience in complex civil litigation and insurance defense litigation.  Attorney Hartley is experienced in defending large loss/critical injury claims such as lost limb and wrongful death matters and at her last firm worked extensively with national and multi-national clients on a broad range of complex and high-exposure litigation matters.  Attorney Hartley is experienced in representing a range of clients from individuals and small businesses to large multi-national corporations in a variety of complex litigation matters including medical malpractice, commercial losses and disputes, products liability, insurance coverage, premises liability, intellectual property, subrogation and property damage.   Attorney Hartley's vast experience in high-exposure litigation include: defense of a national pharmacy chain in an action for damages involving lost limb/crush injury that alleged defective design of a storefront and parking lot; successful arguments in precedent-setting dispositive motions on an issue of first impression regarding duty to supervise newly-licensed orthopedic surgeons;  successful defense of an international automobile manufacturer in claims under the Products Liability Act involving severe disabling forklift injuries; successful defense of operators of national trucking companies where tractor trailer accidents caused large-scale losses including traumatic brain injury and crush injuries.  

Attorney Hartley earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Connecticut in 2002, Cum Laude, and earned her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 2005, where she earned numerous Dean’s List distinctions as well as the Best Brief award in 2005.  Attorney Hartley practices in state and federal courts and is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.
